I thought of writing this blog in Afrikaans because I wanted to quote an email for you which is in Afrikaans, but decided English is also good. I will translate it. A few days ago I got an email from an old friend. He is a good man, a veteran who served his country honorably in the past, a family man who took care of his wife and children and a man who would not steal, lie or cheat. And guess what, he is on the streets because he lost his business. Something I can assure you can happen to anyone reading here. You have no job security whatsoever. Yes, by law, you may get your 30 days' notice and if lucky a few months' salary as a settlement. Truly golden handshakes rarely happen with normal people. It is the prerogative of senior directors and sleazy cadre appointments. Most don't even need it at that stage for they have already milked the company / State dry.
I ask, how long will you survive without a pay check? Two months? A year perhaps and then what? Unless you were there, constantly pestered by the hounds of hell, as I call those horrible creatures known to you as debt collectors, you cannot possible understand this blog. They are only doing their jobs, of course. Well, so did Hitler's concentration camp guards. There are many examples of people "just doing their jobs" and ruining lives by doing so. I hold such excuses in contempt. It is not an excuse.
Then, after you lost everything you try to get a job and you immediately run into the clever long haired liberals calling themselves "job recruiters" whom we spoke about before. They are too stupid to even be able to tell you what a CV / Resume should look like. I bet you, ask any one of them and you will get ten different answers. It is either too long (they don't have time to read or the brain capacity to read it) or too short (they cannot read between the lines) or the wrong format (they have no idea what the format should be). Why is this? Simply, a large part of their income is to draft the "correct" CV for you. At a small fee, of course, and you know what, no other agency agrees to that format anyway so you wasted your money. It is a scam and I fully support those who want to ban them from society. They do no good.
Once past the CV hurdle you are invited for an interview so off you go to meet with person who really does not have the skills to talk to senior people. She sits there like a real madampie, very impressed with the fact that she will now decide your fate. They are never on time, which is a sign of a serious lack of respect and administrative skills. They ask the wrong questions entirely and ask me, I know, I once controlled as HR Manager, besides my legal duties, almost 8000 guards in Nigeria. I knew what to ask because I have experience in that job and I know my field. These recruiters have no experience or very little and even less of life at that tender age. Look at it like this, if you wrote a book, and someone said he read it, you only need to ask two questions and you will know, beyond any doubt, whever this person actually read your book or is trying to bullshit you. Therefore they shout "there are no qualified people, blah blah blah" whilst they should say "we are too dumb to recruit the qualified men."
Lastly, for I want to talk about better things than recruiters, there is the economy which is worse than what the Great Depression ever was. Much worse in fact and we now have 40%, which is almost one in two, of women jobless and 32% of men which is one in three. Even that is unlikely to be accurate and probably less than what the real figures are. And then we have affirmative action which is pure discrimination. The law admits this but says it has to be done for the usual long haired liberal reasons. Theoretically it will disappear one day, lol, it won't. Theoretically it helps a minority to obtain a better life, lol; here it helps the majority, the only country in the world where it is doing that. And best of all, legally you still need to be as qualified as the next man to be appointed, lol, do I need to point out the wonderful higher education these appointees have? Like the non-existing PhDs. It would be funny if not so sad. But fact is, it is here, and here it will stay. Make peace with it or leave the country.
Now most of us will never be touched by the above. Most would be lucky enough to have a job without any periods of unemployment in between and that means we will live well, if not foolish with debt. Most of us would not go to bed hungry or see your children cry because they are abused at school by teachers who value the gifts of rich parents far above teaching. Most of us would not know how it feels to search for a job for many years whilst being told by your family to "maak 'n plan" or being told you are useless and a failure. Most of us will never know the depression and feelings of inadequacy. And if so, I wonder what it says about us who are privileged enough to still eat, braai, drive around, go to movies and of course, let us not forget the Christmas Holiday at the sea spending our bonus on crap. Yeah we don't really care do we?
I ask you, what does it mean when my friend tells me he tried to sleep in his car because his closer friends, in distance, chased him away after a day or two? This is not a man who drinks or has bad manners. He is quite presentable. He also tells me that he got chased away from church grounds more often than any other place. What does that say of that church? Let me tell you what God says of such churches and everyone inside that church: Matthews 25 v 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ 46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
I cannot tell you my contempt for blessed people who turn their backs on a man in reduced circumstances. We see them often closing their windows and deliberately staring in front of them not to make eye contact. They would ignore your existence for you present failure to them, as disease almost. The type who would spend thousands doing charity work on animals, like spaying cats, but not lift a finger to help his tribe, the Afrikaner who is struggling. Some will defend themselves and say, yes well, we give to the church. Let me explain to you, you will fail one day with that excuse for you were entrusted to spend your money well, and you gave control to the church who does what with it? Pay salaries? Jesus did not need one. What else? Oh, we take our fancy four-wheel drive vehicles to far off parts of Africa. Nice holiday ain't it? Taking Bibles to a far off village whilst your own is dying of hunger in front of you? And by the way, statistics proved beyond any doubt that Atheists give twice as much to charity as does so called Christians. And almost none gives even 10% God asked for. What does this say of us?
So what can you do? A lot actually, as a practical example I can mention this. I have several websites, one for JKLS Africa, my company and the rest for my books but all are on one account. The deal is, buy one and get 9 free and they are paid a year ahead. So I gave him a website for free to host his private investigation company again because that is his main source of clients. This is but a simple example. What else? Ensure that you recommend, because word of mouth is crucial, your Afrikaner mates to others so that we can trade with each other and hence improve our lot. This is what Jews and Muslims do but not the Afrikaner. Why is that? What else? Sit down with such a man and make him feel he has friends, there is a God and there is justice and the wheel will turn one day. That you understand he is not a loser but reduced and trying his best. This is called compassion and no rich man has it. Ironically, the day will come when he begs for it in hell and he will find nothing. This is also written in the Bible and I will be there to laugh at him.
